This is a company that should be run in the private sector, not the government. You (the government) have too much on your plate and can not handle yet another take over of an industry you want to control. You mishandled the housing loan industry, what makes you think you can handle the student loan industry any better? And what reasons do you have other than controlling who can get college assistance do you have for wanting to control this industry? Stay away from this!

Student loans played an intregal part of my college education at The Pennsylvania State University. The customer service provided by the Wilkes Barre office is unparalleled in an industry of computer answering machines. You talk to a person, the issue is resolved, and you know that the problem is resolved correctly. Please continue this valuable service and do not take away the reason Sallie Mae has set itself apart from the competition as the industry's leader in Student Loans. Thank you. Robert J Guilford

These jobs are extemely important to the community. What kind of stimulus program is underway when through Congressional action you are threatening thousands of SallieMae jobs that haven't been shipped off shore? Let's find a way to use the talent assembled in these facilities from around the country instead of creating a whole new federal program and bureacracy.

Government is getting way too big. It's supposed to be a government by the people, for the people. If things keep going the way they are Obama will have control over every aspect of our lives, which is exactly what he and all the socialist, communist, marxist SWINE that he surrounds himself with want. We the people must let them get away with this. They are flushing this country and everything it stands for and everything that makes it great down the toilet.

We can't afford to lose anymore jobs. We need to keep industries and companies in the area, not only for the economy but for the families who need the support. And what about the students, what do tney do without Fannie Mae? How can they continue their education?

I have worked for Sallie Mae for nearly 8 years when they purchased the company I was working for. I have had an opportunity to work for, and advance in a company that not only provides a great service to the citizens of the United States but also has provided steady employment and growth potential to its employees. When a lot of companies are laying off and downsizing, Sallie Mae and its subsidiaries have been hiring. Sallie Mae provides a vital service in helping to make higher education available to all citizens. They do so much more efficiently and effectively than the public option.

I worked at Sallie Mae for 10 years and during that time took great pride in the work that the company does. Working at Sallie Mae gave me the ability to further my education and gain success in both my personal and professional life. Circumstances being different I would still be working at Sallie Mae.

Please keep the many needed jobs in PA. It isn't right to take away jobs and expect people to be able survive. The money individuals pay out will be less and then the county and state will still have finanical issues. We need to stimulate the economy not destroy it.

The student loan industry is very important to this part of PA. Sallie Mae not only provides employment to a large part of this community, but also helps many students through a very confusing process. As a former employee of Sallie Mae I can attest to the fact that Sallie Mae has helped many students achieve their financial goals for higher education. They have also assisted many borrowers who would have otherwise defaulted on their loans, if it weren't for their incredible staff.

I am a current employee of Sallie Mae and must say this is by far the best job I have ever had. In these past two years my life has changed so much not just financially but my outlook on many things. It is such a rewarding job to even begin to help anyone if this financally difficult period. The idea of knowning at the end if the phone call you have helped someone get by in this difficult time is an indescribable feeling. To know out company helps every last person who always had that dream of being something in life. We give them that oppurtunity to do so. Taking the jobs of such dedicated hard worker doesn't seem to solve any of the current problems... What other company right now with the great rise of unemployment is offering hundreds of job oppurtunities ? HELP SAVE OUR JOBS!

My job is important to me and to others in the community. By working at Sallie Mae I have been able to buy items and invest in the local economy. Likewise my job has allowed me to assist community initiatives in fund raising. Most recently, I participated in "A Mother's Hope". A charity that assists children with terminal illnesses to pay for medical treatment, assist the parents with money for groceries, transportation and other items that can create stress during a difficult time. Without my job I would not be able to help such worthy causes.

I am planning on going back to school after the first of the year. It is important to me to have several financial options when applying for student loans. Fed. ran financial institutions, in my opinion, would not be the way to go to help fix our financial woes. Unemployment is already high enough, to purposely dump thes sinstituions would put many more people out of a job, and with less options for help in going back to school. It's already hard enough to gain grants and fed. loans!!

Sallie Mae and its employees have been strong supporters of community organizations in countless ways. I have many friends that work at Sallie Mae. without their jobs, many will lose their homes and it will simply add so many qualified, able to work individuals to the "welfare list". As a former resident of PA, I know full well that Salle Mae is a crucial key to the maintenance of the economy of the Wyoming Valley. I have known countless people who have been and are currently employed there, their lives revolve around the employer and taking their jobs away could be the beginning of the domino effect that will crush the economy of the Northeaster PA, not just the Wyoming Valley.

Sallie Mae has been instrumental in providing jobs for many area residents. In addition, it has also provided much needed money to this area by building a beautiful structure in the Hanover Twp area. This provided jobs not to just Sallie Mae employees, but to construction workers, laborers, plumbers, electricians, dry wall specialists, painters, etc, etc. Sallie Mae also raises money for several groups in need. Do you really want to stop all the benefits provided by this organization? I DON'T THINK SOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The Federal government is attempting to control ALL aspects of our lives ! They MUST BE stopped from doing so. Slowly all of our freedoms are being eroded ! In addition, the various bailouts, TARP programs, takovers of the banking and auto industries, allowing the failure of Lehman Bros., Cap & Trade legislation and now legislation on Health Care Reform that is being pushed without regard to how it will be paid for or having open discussions on cost cutting measures, such as the definite need for tort reform, before anything can logically move forward !! ... collectively all of these things are destroying our economic system! Who will continue to purchase our debt?!? And at what cost to all of us -- and our freedoms?!? Besides the Obama administration -- what other country/countries will be dictating our lives?!? And in the interim -- we must print money to cover all of our debts -- which, in turn, will create spiraling inflation. Anyone on a fixed income will go into bankruptcy, once inflation goes out of control! WAKE UP AMERICA!

We need to generate new jobs in this area. We surely can't afford to lose any!! This area is very depressed and need all the help we can get, this will help our economy and lift our spirits as well. The cost of our healthcare is increasing by 30%, but our pay is only increasing 2% and that's only because of our union. The non-union workers aren't getting ANY increase this year or next, but their benefits are increasing the same as ours.

In a article in the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette on Monday, August 17th the presidents'Health and Human Services secretary Kathleen Sebelius went on CNN's State of the Union show and was quoted as saying "what's important is choice and competition". In the same article the presidents' White House press secretary Robert Gibbs went on CBS's Face the Nation and was quoted as saying the president "will be satisfied" if the private insurance market has "choice and compeition". Both of these "voices" from the Obama administration were talking about Health reform, BUT we at Sallie Mae have been saying the same thing in the student loan industry. All we want is Choice and Competition. The president should listen to his own administration and keep choice and competition in the student loan industry as well.

We need to keep people off of unemployment by keeping them gainfully employed. Let the Federal Gov. do something else, like stopping wars, paving roads and did I mention providing health care.

As a resident of Northeastern Pennsylvania, I urge Members of our Congressional delegation to fight to protect good, family-supporting student loan industry jobs in our community while restructuring federal student loan programs and investing savings in need-based college financial aid.

The Federal government has proved itself inept at performing the tasks it currently performs. To take these jobs away from the private sector would be a tragic mistake. The governors of the states, especially Pennsylvania, where Sallie Mae has employees should beat down the doors of Congress to keep these jobs.

As a proud Sallie Mae employee and father of a college graduate and high schooler, it is imperative choice and competition are preserved in the federal loan program and that jobs are protected in Pennsylvania.

I work in the Delaware Sallie Mae office and live in Pennsylvania. Keeping jobs in PA is very important for our overall economy. Sallie Mae plays a critical role in the communities where their offices are located. Furthermore, the Sallie Mae proposal for student loans has significant merit in the student lending community for free enterprise.

I have worked at Sallie Mae for 12 years now and was one of those students who benefited by Sallie Mae giving me a student loan. Working at Sallie Mae has been the most rewarding job I have had. I assisted families in getting the student loans they need for education.

Reform is always good approach to see where we stand as a nation but when that reform impacts humanity in a negative, people suffer (ie; you, me, friends, family, neighbors etc.). We need some good news for a change, to hear that our county is making progress not slogans like "Protect Pennsylvania Job". Protect all jobs period!!!

Working for a company like Sallie Mae has opened up many options for me. I'm planning to go to school with the help of Sallie Mae, I have already purchased a vehicle with the help of Sallie Mae, as well as moving out on my own. Benefiting Sallie Mae's borrowers, helps me to better myself and my family.
